To Our Partners in Faith

The cloud is moving for Messiah Project! After 12 years of being at the Credo Arts Center at 931 S. Kickapoo, we are seeing a season of change on the horizon. We have a lot to be thankful for and a few regrets.

I will not go into all the wonderful accomplishments that God has allowed us to be a part of while residing at the original Jewish Synagogue of Springfield. However, I will mention most notably a few of our accomplishments. From this location, we launched the Heritage of Hymns that has been a hallmark event for Springfield. It was also the launching pad for our performance at the Kremlin State Palace Theater in Moscow in May of 2010. It was during our stay here that we organized our relief mission bringing 600,000 meals to the Middle East in support of refugees fleeing the terrors of ISIS. The most notable event that took place during our stay here was the formation of Credo Dance Academy. This is the regret that I have to let our friends know about. In spite of our best efforts our enrollment plummeted over the last 3 years from close to 100 students in the Spring of 2016 to 25 for the spring semester of 2019. With the loss of revenue, we could not sustain the Academy, pay the directors’ salaries, and maintain the facility. Therefore, the Academy is officially closed as of the end of July 2019. However, we hope to continue our outreach to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Springfield under the Credo Dance Academy flag, so please pray as we work toward that goal. In the meantime, we have been able to lease the facility to Missouri State University Theater & Dance Department. Thanks to the support of All Saints Anglican Church, Messiah Project will have the use of offices on the second floor in “The Galloway House,” a building on the church property – a most generous gift! This is not a permanent place to reside but will be a blessing for possibly one year while we see where the cloud will move.

Be assured that as we follow the Lord’s leading, the Holy Spirit is providing new inspiration for the ministry and provision to continue to proclaim our faith both here and abroad. Following is our calendar of events:

Rehearsals begin on August 18 for our 11 th Annual Heritage of Hymns. The concert will be at Evangel University on September 28 and feature Psalmist/Composer Dennis Jernigan. I would highly recommend that you listen to some of his music. For many of us, he is one of the best song writers and worship leaders of our generation. His music is sung throughout all the major denominations and contemporary churches. If you have choral experience, please come and sing with the choir or if you are not a choral singer, please bring your friends and family to enjoy together this special time of music and worship!

The community will once again see the famous “Only place on Planet Earth” Nativity Scenes that area McDonald’s Restaurants host for this community and their customers. During the year we have been raising support to refurbish these hand-painted characters, some of which are close to 30 years old. We again are most grateful to McDonald’s Restaurants for hosting the scenes.

This fall Messiah Project will produce a Holiday Prelude along with the famous American Opera Amahl and the Night Visitors under the direction of Christopher Brammer. The performances this year will be at Venture Church, former Cornerstone Church, behind the Elfindale Shopping Center. There will be a student concert during the day on Friday, November 15. That evening we will have an optional dinner at the Mansion followed by a concert in the main Sanctuary for a totally delightful evening. On Saturday, November 16, we will have a matinee at 2:30. Mr. Brammer is putting together a stellar cast and chamber orchestra for this Holiday Prelude. The theatrical advancement of Venture Church will make this a most inspirational event that you won’t want to miss!

● Messiah Spring Festival of Praise - Date and Location will be announced soon ● Concert tour to Mongolia and Japan will be June 13 through June 27. This outreach will primarily feature Ballet Excelsior of Houston, Texas, doing a performance based on The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe from C.S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia. We are also working with a Korean missionary women’s choir based in Ulaanbaatar to perform in the event and would welcome singers from the U.S. to participate, as well. More to come on this opportunity! Thank you for all of your support for the many years of ministry through the arts we have experienced together! We look forward to following the vision the Lord has set before us, and we invite you to continue with us in this fulfilling mission! Blessings,

Lindsey and Jane
